Week 49 - Candy Cane Cookies

This amazing Candy Cane cookie recipe is a delicious shortbread cookie made with oatmeal. It is so fun for the kids to make. They get to shape the shortbread into candy canes. After baking they get to decorate them with stripes. It is always fun to include the entire family for Christmas baking.
Candy Cane Cookies
2 sticks butter
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
2 1/2 cups Flour
1 1/2 cups Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 t salt
2 T Water (I didn't add this in video and they turned out great!)
Cream together butter and vanilla. Gradually add powdered sugar until blended well.
Stir in flour, water (optional) and salt. Once blended add Oats. Bake at 325 for 20 - 25 mins.
You can bake longer for a more crisp shortbread.

In my video I forgot to add the 2 T of water. They didn't fall apart. I assume the water is to help bind the cookie together since it does not have egg. I could not tell the difference without using the water.
